- AFTER A LONG TUESDAY AFTERNOON IN ME AND KERRY DECIDED TO MAKE THE BEST OF THE SNOW AND GO DOWN TO NEW HALL AND SEE IF WE COULD CAPTURE THE SNOW BEFORE (IN TYPICAL ENGLISH STYLE) IT GOT WASHED AWAY.
FISTLY WE TRIED TO CAPTURE THE SNOW FALLING HOWEVER THIS WAS UNSUCSESSFUL AS THE SNOW FALL WASN'T HEAVY ENOUGH FOR THE CAMERA TO PICK UP THEREFORE WE MOVED ONTO PORTRAIT SHOTS HAVING TO CHANGE THE ISO TO ONE OF THE LOWEST AS WE WENT ABOUT 10PM WHICH BY THAT TIME IT WAS REALLY DARK ALTHOUGH I THINK IT WORKED TO OUR ADVANTAGE AS THE SNOW LOOKED BRIGHTER JUXTAPOSED WITH THE DARKNESS OF THE SURROUNDINGS.
I CAPTURED THE FIRST PICTURE BY ACCIDENT WHEN I SHOOK THE CAMERA HOWEVER I THINK IT LOOKS QUITE INVENTIVE AND CREATIVE, THE SECOND PICTURE REMINDS ME OF ONE OF JERMAINE FRANCIS'S PHOTOS AS THE CAMERA SHAKE MAKES THE PERSON APPEAR TO HAVE TWO FACES WHICH CREATES A TWO DIMENTIONAL EFFECT WHICH I THINK ADDS A UNIQUE QUALITY TO THE PHOTO. THE THIRD PICTURE WAS QUITE HARD TO GET AS THERE WAS NO NATURAL/ARTIFICIAL LIGHT APART FROM THE LAMPOST WHICH WAS QUITE HIGH SET SO WE HAD TO GET THE ANGLE OF THE CAMERA AND THE ANGLE OF THE HEAD PERFECT TO CAPTURE THE LIGHT BUT WE DID IT IN THE END AND I THINK IT LOOKS NICE AND NATURAL.
THE LAST PHOTO IS PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE AS I PREFER TAKING PICTURES IN BLACK AND WHITE ANYWAY AS IT SMOOTHS OUT GENERAL IMPREFECTIONS AND MAKES THE PHOTOGRAPH APPEAR MORE PROFESSIONAL.
OVERALL I THINK THIS WAS A GOOD TRIP, WHEN THERES SNOW AGAIN I HOPE TO TRY A SIMILAR PHOTOSHOOT WITH AN EDITORIAL SPIN WHITH SOMEONE IN AN EDGY OUTFIT AND HEELS TO MAKE THEM LOOK SLIGHTLY INCONGEROUS FOR A SHARPER EFFECT.
